Today’s post is about paper, trees, and lives.

One of the customers from our office told us about their house.
There used to be 17 trees around his house, it was such a blessing in the desert-hot-summer California.

However, when it gets to blooming season, the son was very allergic to the pollens.
The family decided to trim all 17 trees.

On the evening the trees got trimmed, dark clouds flew above the house with loud noises.

Those were not clouds, they were the birds that went out to look for food in the day, who didn’t know that as soon as they leave the home in the morning, there would be nothing for them to return to in the evening.
The trees were gone, their homes were gone, don’t even mention about the nests, the kids, and their unborn children.
The homeless birds cried all through the night……

When our customer was telling this story, tears came down the wife’s cheek.
Only if the time can go back…………….
—————————————————————–
This is just the story about 17 trees, what we are destroying is far more than this figure.
Now I look at paper differently, because for every sheet that I use, every sheet that I waste, or every junk mail that I toss in the trash, lives are disappearing.
I am very sorry for the lives that I am responsible of.
VERY, VERY, SORRY……

This post is about all the Invisible Hands that helped me throughout many of my tough times.
Recently, I am trying very hard to balance between my roles in life.
This is just a reminder to myself, to encourage myself,
that when I am busy, especially when I am losing my balance,
there are many Invisible Hands,
which secretly helped me,
many times through angles that I don’t really see.
THANK YOU ALL.

This post is about Family.
Everyone wish to have a perfect family, animals, too.

Little piglet loves to mud-bath with Dad.

Little fish’s dreams are sweeter when Mommy fish is watching over them.

Although the baby kitten is very naughty, Daddy Cat still loves it very much.

Like us, the whole Turtle Family usually have a walk when the weather is nice.

When Baby calf hangs around Mommy Cow, he stops throwing temper tantrum.

Who wants to be separated from their family?

Animals, too.

However, Mommy Pig is usually forced to leave her baby piglet forever after labor.

Baby cows often times don’t get to drink Mommy Cow’s milk whenever they want. Because Mommy Cow’s milk is now mainly for people.

We shed tears of sympathy for many broken families, maybe family of our friends, relatives, or even TV stories.

Yet we overlooked the fact that many families were broken because of us.

I wish one day, there are no “incomplete” families in this world.
At least, we are no longer the cause.

Yes, this is a post about vegetarianism.
Recently, I try to intake less eggs and dairy products. When I reach my hands towards blocks of cheese or boxes of eggs on the supermarket shelves, I begin to wonder,
“Why do someone have to be caged and separated from their families just because I want to eat some scrambled egg or have some nice pizza with cheese?”
I feel that I have no right to take away their freedom.
So I stopped.
This should be the same reason why many of you become vegetarians, right?

This is about Time.

Little Monk: “Oh! No! This is Shi Fu’s (teacher) favorite vase!”

Shi Fu: “Everything in the world goes through the phase of ‘Formation,’ ‘Existence,’ ‘Destruction,’ and ‘Emptiness.’ All things has it’s time in this world.”

Little Monk: “Shi Fu, the time is up for your vase……………”
—————————————————————————-
I’ve always like this joke.
Just to remind myself, don’t be so attached to physical things, they won’t last forever.

This is about what I really think about the idea of “Finders Keepers”……………….

To be honest, I never like the term “Finders Keepers.”
When someone is happy for finding something (and deciding to keep it), another person might be looking for it.

But are we really entitle to keep what we found?
Who said so?
Don’t tell me “everyone says so,” because who is that “everyone” to decided the fate of my things?
I often think the person who started this phrase is full of GREED and EXCUSES, this person wanted to keep something that is not his/her when it was found, so came up with the “finders keepers” idea.

But what if, we are the one that lost our important personal belonging? Like, an iPod, cell phone, favorite drawing book, notebook, wallet, etc…… What do we say then? Are we the “weeping losers” then?
If we lost something, even in today’s world of “Finders Keepers,” we still wish we can recover what we lost, we still wish that whoever finds it would return it, not keeping it.
Then why do we keep others’ lost items as our own?
I think we shouldn’t keep it even if we found it, period.

For those of you who found my lost cell phones, books, wallets, and many other things, I want to thank you for returning them to me.
YOU ARE HIGHLY APPRECIATED!

I hope one day, our world can achieve the phase as Confucius has mentioned in the “Chapter of Great Harmony,”
“No need to lock up doors at night, for there is no thieves,
Anything valuable dropped on the floor won’t be taken, for everyone is considerate and has integrity.”
I pray for that one day……………….

This is about lots of Rubber Duckies.
Yes, I know, I know, if you can read both the English and Chinese writings, you will be so lost, why do I say “Rubber Ducky” in English and use “Rice Pack/Rice Ball” in Chinese?
Because “A string of Rick Packs” is what we use to describe this following situation I am about to explain in Taiwanese, but for English speakers or someone without the Taiwanese background, it will be hard to understand, so I use “Rubber Ducky” instead.
Here it goes:

If you have been using the very popular, social networking website call “Facebook,” you will know, the whole purpose behind it is to keep friends and families stay connected, as well as get to know your friend’s friend’s cousin’s brother’s mom’s best friend’s daughter.

And you will also know, Facebook is a very big link of “rubber duckies.”

Adding one person on Facebook, often equals adding 10 more other people, like a string of rubber duckies, you pull one out, the rest will follow.
Of course, sometimes we “add a friend” without really interact with him or her, we just want to add someone.

Sooner or later, you will find yourself buried in pile of the duckies, too many of them, you can’t even keep track of.
Well, I thought the whole purpose was to “keep everyone connected”??
But let’s face it, there are so many people on our “Friends List” that we don’t even know how some certain person got on the list in the first place.
Eventually, Facebook become a burden to many people.

Now, my question is:
HOW MANY RUBBER DUCKIES DO YOU HAVE?

This is about the containers for our DREAMS.
My current boss was sharing with me about how she has created a “DREAM BOARD,” which works like this:
1. She would list out things that she likes to have or wants to do, simply put, her DREAMS.
2. Find the pictures or something to represent each item on the list.
3. Paste the pictures on a board.
4. Look at them everyday.
5. Work towards them.
The “Dream Board” can be anything, such as:

It can be a board.

It can be a binder.

It can be a box.

Or it can just be a list.
Look at the dream board everyday, imagine how it would feel if the dreams are accomplished.

It is a REMINDER and ENCOURAGEMENT.
Work hard towards the goal, improve and elevate myself.
Do not fear of any obstacles or challenges.
MY DREAMS WILL COME TRUE!!!

How about you?
Find a box, and start collecting your dreams!

This is about the walls I put around myself.

Often time, I would say something like,
“I am not a sports person.”
“I am not a cooking person.”
“I am not good with numbers.”
Thinking that the only thing I am good at is what I am good at now, what I have talents now.

But then, I didn’t know that I am actually restricting myself, put myself in walls, and push all the opportunities away.
And I thought I was just trying to “Be Myself.”

However, as my current boss told me, if I can open up my heart and mind, remove my walls.

Then I will realize, what I CAN do, is not just the “self” that I thought I am, I can do anything, I have the capability.
Now, it’s just the WILLINGNESS.

This is about one of my wishes.

Because drawing is my only talent, so I always wish I can draw a card for my love ones’ birthdays.

Some of my friends knows I draw greeting cards, so they request me to draw for them on special days other than birthdays. And I don’t know how to say know to people, especially with something I love to do.
Of course, eventually, it expanded from Birthday cards to Christmas card, to Happy Moving cards, to “I Love You, Honey” cards, or Get-Well cards.
However, as the things on my hands get piled up more and more, and the time I have gets less and less, I become slower and slower.

With all the past-due cards still on my to-do list, before I know it, I am buried in CARD DEBTS!!!!!
Now, I think I kind of catch uped, although as much as I love to draw for everyone, I can’t keep on promising people things that I can’t perform.
This is actually kind of hard, because after so many cards that I have done, I feel kind of obligatad that I should draw a card for my love ones instead of buying a card.
I think this is probably just my inner ego.
I AM GOING TO LET GO!!!!!

This is my answer to the question I asked.

If we cut down all the trees, pollute the rivers, and poison all the fish, just want to save some money.

Eventually we will end up with no clean water to drink, no clean air to breath, no clean soil to plant. This will lead to lack of our living necessities, lack of water, lack of food, and lack of good health due to bad air.

And I think when we get to that point, even if we have money that stack as high as a person, it won’t buy us a loaf of bread.

When there is no earth, there’s no people, nothing, of course, there’s no money. If we can’t survive, no matter how much money we have in our bank account, they are just dust.

If all the money I save from buying “cheaper-and-more-environmental-harmful” products will not lead me to a good end, and that I will loss everything if I continue, then, I think, I will go for the “cost-a-bit-more-yet-have-less-impact-on-earth” products.

May the impact be on my wallet, and not on our Earth.
This is my answer.
What people are saying…
